Since 1974, The Humanitas Prizes have been awarded to honor professional film and television writers whose work explores the human condition in a nuanced, meaningful way.

Save the date! The 2022 Humanitas Prizes will be presented on September 9, 2022, at what is currently being planned as an in-person luncheon at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, CA. At the event, winners receive a trophy and a cash prize.

Past winners include: When They See Us, All in the Family, The Handmaid’s Tale, The West Wing, ER, Hidden Figures, black-ish, Silver Linings Playbook, Homicide: Life on the Street, Good Will Hunting, Lady Bird, St. Elsewhere, The Bernie Mac Show, Orange is the New Black, NYPD Blue, 13th, and more.


ELIGIBLE CATEGORIES:

  • Drama Teleplay

  • Comedy Teleplay

  • Children’s Teleplay (Live Action or Animated)

  • Limited Series, TV Movie, or Special

  • Drama Feature

  • Comedy Feature

  • Family Feature (Live Action or Animated)

  • Documentary (Feature or Docuseries Episode)

  • Short Film

  • Web Series: New for 2022. Humanitas defines web series as a sequence of scripted online videos, running between two and twenty minutes, released in an episodic form and produced without the direct financial or creative backing of a major network or studio.

REQUIRED SUBMISSION MATERIALS:

  • Completed entry form. 

  • One PDF of shooting script with credits redacted.

  • Writer’s headshot and bio. 

  • Project poster or key art.
